He is a graduate of the Master's, Ph.D. and rigorous continuing studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Ostrava, in the study programme focused on Geography and Environmental Geography, specializing in social and regional development. During his studies, he worked for five years at his alma mater as a research assistant in the Cartography and Topography section. He gained his first professional experience (2002-2004) as an economic editor for the Czech Information Agency, where his area of interest was reporting on the economic results of major industrial enterprises in Moravian-Silesian region. In this period (2003 - 2005) he started to focus on the issue of strategic planning in regional development, where in cooperation with the company Media Content he implemented the first strategic documents for the development of municipalities in the Moravian-Silesian Region as the main project manager of the implementation team.

In 2004 he joined the Faculty of Management and Economics of Tomas Bata University in Zlín as an assistant professor. His interest in deepening his professional skills also meant that he took up the position of Head of the Concepts and Analyses Department of the Strategic Development Department of the Zlín Region (2007 - 2010). In this leading position, he was responsible for complex strategic planning of the Zlín Region, both at the general level and in the level of thematic concepts. During his stay in the Zlín Region, he did not leave the academic environment and continued to pass on his experience to the next generation of students in a part-time capacity. With a team of collaborators, he has implemented several professional projects and also obtained important scientific projects such as GAČR or TAČR. In 2013, he habilitated (Assoc.) at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, in the programme Economic Policy and Administration, Department of Regional and Social Development. An integral part of associate professor Hájek's professional life is a broader issue in the field of real estate and real estate market. Since 2016, he has been the managing director of legal entities which are active on the real estate market and focus their activities on the revitalization and subsequent leasing of buildings and commercial real estate. He is also responsible for the strategic orientation of several objects oriented to tourism services - hotels and restaurants.
