Are you interested in tourism and would you like to see how you’d cope with real-world challenges? The Institute of Management at the University of St Cyril and St Methodius in Trnava invites secondary school pupils to take part in the nationwide competition Young Tourism Leaders. The competition combines specialist knowledge, creative thinking and teamwork, and offers the chance to present your ideas to a panel of experts.
Who is the competition for?
Students in the 3rd and 4th years of secondary vocational schools and hotel academies from across Slovakia are eligible to take part. All you need to do is form a team of two to four students from the same school, choose a name and register. Each team is supported by a teacher who acts as a mentor.
What lies in store for the competing teams?
The competition will begin with the regional round, which will take place online on 7 December 2026. In a joint knowledge test, the teams will demonstrate their knowledge of tourism services, geography, management, marketing, the hotel industry and current tourism trends.
Eight teams will progress to the national final. The final will take place in February 2027 at the UCM Institute of Management in Trnava. The exact date will be announced later.
The finalists will take part in a live knowledge quiz Live Tourism Quiz and tackle a case study Tourism Case Study. In doing so, they will draw on their knowledge and creativity to solve a practical problem in tourism and present and defend their proposals before a panel of experts.
Why get involved?
The competition is an opportunity to gain new experiences, develop presentation skills, meet peers with similar interests, and experience university life. Team members from the top three teams will receive attractive prizes.
How do I register?
Registration is open until 30 November 2026 via the online registration form. The full terms and conditions of participation and the rules are set out in the competition regulations.
